Abstract

Job stress is the harmful physical and emotional response that occurs when there is a mismatch between job demands and the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. The focus of this work is to investigate the job stress among employees and to determine its influence on productivity. In addition the work aims at determining the factors contributing to job stress and to suggest measures for reducing stress levels. The company is a reputed public sector firm in the country and manufactures a variety of medical devices. Random Samples of employees are chosen and the data is collected by means of a survey questionnaire. Initially a Pilot survey was conducted to ensure the reliability of questionnaire. Response data from main survey was analyzed using software to determine job stress levels and its influence on productivity. The results show that there is significant relationship among job stress and productivity. Factors contributing to job stress & measures for reducing stress levels were also identified.
