Abstract (at least 300 words to describe your proposal)

In January, only twelve hours after having an e-mail from Wikimedia Austria in his mailbox, Ralf found himself on a train to Austria. I will take pictures of the Olympic Games in Innsbruck! It's only the Youth Olympic Games but still impressive. Whoever might win there might be a famous athlete in a few years. Such photos are needed for Wikipedia, and it is unlikely that professionals release their work in the nearest future.

Instead, Wikipedia photographers became more and more successful in gaining access to high-level events through press accreditations. The speakers were able to take photos at events like the Frankfurt Motor Show and the Royal Wedding in Sweden, and could do interviews with Nobel laureates directly after they delivered their lecture in Stockholm. But how to get there without a press ID? How to apply successfully for an accreditation without making the organizers scared off by weired volunteers? How can chapters facilitate accreditation? And most important: How to act to make your accreditation not being the last one for any Wikipedian?

Ralf has been photographing for over 30 years but Innsbruck was a big challenge. He has been pushed to his limits and likes to tell about it because others will benefit if they are in similar situations. Holger started his career as a photographer together with Wikipedia, and refined his strategies to get accreditations during the last years by trial and error.
