From Wikimania 2012 • Washington, D.C., USA

Hi,

I was a translator into French for Wikimania websites in 2010 especially and partly in 2011, but I wonder if it’s worth translating this website given it is very warmly recommanded attendees speak English, perhaps the place of the website which is worth translating is for the external public (I am thinking about press particularly).

Note to myself: Thinking about bilingual conference (Buenos Aires mainly and Alexandria), although it’s not relevant for Wikimania Washington since the local language is English, live-translated sessions would be great (like it has been done in the Rencontres Wikimedia in Paris, Dec 2010, or in the UN :); and perhaps even (that was my original idea) propose a translation service during the breaks (volunteers or paid) to permit conversations between local (non-English speakers) and non-local people (English speakers), I don’t know if this idea is good and/or possible and/or valuable to try, I will propose it for Wikimania 2013 (but if anybody wants to speak about it before me, please do it, I not sure not to forget). ~ Seb35 [^_^] 12:12, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
