Citizens of these countries do not need a visa to enter the United States, but they must apply for travel authorization on line using ESTA. This authorization costs USD 14, which can only be paid by credit card, and is valid for two years. ESTA is not required for Canadian citizens.

Citizens of other countries will need a [http:// travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1262.html B-1 or B-2 visa], a temporary, non-immigrant visa for business or pleasure purposes.

We will help you be prepared when going for your visa appointment by:

  • Providing you a letter of invitation, upon registering for Wikimania.
  • Inform the embassy or consulate directly about your attendance at Wikimania.

The State Department's E-Diplomacy office is working closely with us, as a partner, in organizing Wikimania. While visa decisions are ultimately in the hands of the consular officer, we will do our best to help with a letter and by notifying the embassy or consulate.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us at wikimania-registration@wikimedia.org.
